The Boat Swap is Back April 18th!

Selling Your Gear
Drop Off
Drop off will take place from 8am-12pm on the 18th. Pull into our parking lot as normal and look for the pop up tent with signage. The earlier you arive the better as we will have more time to help you go over prices and put your items in prime real estate! Please note that we will not buy your items up front, this is a one day consignment.
What Will we Take?
While we will gladly take in much more than just boats, we do only want water specific gear. The only clothing we will take would be wet suits, dry suits/tops, or splash gear IN GOOD SHAPE. If you do have a bunch of summer clothing or camping gear you want to get rid of, the Gear Exchange at our downtown location would be more than willing to take a look at it. We want nothing but gear in working condition, so no ripped dry suits, broken oar blades or cracked kayaks. At drop off we do reserve the right to decline taking an item in for any reason we see fit.
Pricing
Your are more than welcome to name your prices, but keep in mind that this is only a one sale and if you are trying to get absolute top dollar, you are more than likely going to be coming back later to pick up your things. We will have staff helping advise you on pricing at the check in table, or if you give us a range you would be willing to take we can either negotiate for you, or play middle man throughout the day.
Pay Outs
At drop off, you will have the choice of how you get your money back for items sold. Option 1 is 80% back in the form of a check that will be mailed to the address on your check in form within 1-2 weeks of the event. Option 2 is 110% back in store credit to help you swap your old gear for new! Credit never expires and is good at both Trailhead locations. Would show up on your customer account within 1 week of the sale.
Buying Gear
When Should I Show Up?
The sale runs from 12pm-4pm, however most of the best deals are gone within 45 minutes. Every year the crowd waiting to get in before open gets bigger and bigger, so I would not want to be any later than noon.
What Will be there?
We have no way of nowing for sure. There will definitely be rafts, kayaks and canoes, but there is no telling how many or in what condition. If the inventory is looking thin we may suplement the sale with some of our rental inventory, but as of now we are hoping to carry over most of that. The past two years our parking lot has been bursting at the seams with gear, so the only way to find out is to come and see for yourself!
Holding Items
We will absolutely not hold onto any items during the sale. If you are thinking of buying something and someone else comes up and takes the tag, it is theirs. If you just cannot pick it up that day, we can hold it (in most cases), but you need to pay in full first so we can make sure the seller is taken care of.
After The Swap
Return Policy
Under no circumstances will we accept a return on swap items. Payouts to the sellers will begin the next day and it would be unfair to them. You are 100% responsible for looking over the items thoroughly BEFORE purchasing.
Unsold Items
As the sale is winding down, we will begin calling sellers with items still there. We ask that you come and pick up remaining items by 6pm.
Frequent Questions
1Can I drop my gear off early?
Absolutely not. April is our busiest month of the year for receiving inventory and making sure that all of our ducks are in a row before the Boat Swap kicks our season off with a bang! The last thing we want is for your items or paperwork to be lost in the mayham that is receiving spring orders and prepping rentals.
2What happened to the River Rally from last year?
It is still happening! Just not until June 3rd this year. We decided that this year we wanted to make it bigger and better, so we are teaming up with Wild Montana and their Rivers, Trails and Forests expo. There will be live music, foor, drinks, raffles, and most importantly, 50+ local conservation focused non-profits here to tell you all about what they do! More info on that to come.
3What if what I am looking for is not at the Boat Swap?
We will have a wide variety of items in stock if you swing and miss at the Boat swap. If we do not have what you are looking for in stock, April is a great time to see if we can get what you want on an upcoming order!
4What if I have any questions at the event?
Our expert in house staff and potentially representatives from brands like NRS, AIRE and Sawyer will be there to help ensure you go home with a great deal.
