Why Choose an RMR?
Rocky Mountain Rafts offer a reliable and rugged boat for a relatively wallet friendly price. RMRs are made with a single walled PVC construction and come standard with an I-beam floor. Most models will also have a drop-stitch floor option. RMR gained traction because of the heavy duty PVC and "triple welded seam' used in construction produced a raft which could take a beating and keep on ticking. Although this durable construction and price point has made these a popular pick amongst our staff members, it does come at a cost: weight. These rafts are quite heavy when compared to similar sizes across brands and do not roll well. If you can live with that, RMR offers one of the toughest budget boats out there.
I-Beam or Drop Stitch floor?
I-Beam
- Operates at lower pressures, resulting in a more reliable and easier to repair floor.
- More cost effective
- Offers more volume for increased buoyancy
Drop-Stitch
- Operates at higher pressures resulting in a floor which is easier to stand on
- Thinner, meaning you have a greater interior depth for coolers and other gear
- Being thinner also allows for more clearance on the bottom of the boat
